ROOFTOP ROCK GARDEN
Toshio Abiko Associates designed and installed this rooftop site in 2004 at Brigham & Women's Hospital to transform an unused blacktop roof into a peaceful contemporary Japanese rock garden.

The garden features white marble stones in the form of a sacred Japanese mountain called Hakusan. Waves created by a custom wood gravel rake reverberate around the base.

Recover took over the maintenance contract in 2010. Our team refreshes the marble, concrete pavers, and bamboo railings twice a year as cleanliness is integral to the intention of the space.
