Heritage Square Pocket Park

Project Completion
Spring 2016

Location
New Canaan, CT

Building Type
Mixed Use

HERITAGE SQUARE is a newly constructed mixed-use downtown development with six residential units in New Canaan, Conn. Recover built a pocket park on the second story of the building that functions as a central courtyard for residents.

Thirty-foot-tall drought- and heat-tolerant river birches anchor the space and provide a canopied perimeter for lush green sod, a walkable skylight, and bluestone hardscape patio areas in the center. The design works in concert with the barn-style building facade, creating an inviting place to rest, picnic, or simply enjoy from the residences above.
